The first coins that brought out in Greece date from 560 - 520 B.C.. That archaic coin produced in ancient Athens and based on the Athenian drachma. It depicts the effigy of Athena wearing a Corinthian helmet decorated with a griffin on the obverse and inscription "ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ" (Alexandrou) with Nike of Samothrace (also called Winged Victory of Samothrace) on the reverse. Circa 520 - 490 BC
